Images of houses sometimes serve as metaphors for people.  Like many urban dwellings, Connie Llovera's ceramic building has darkly painted walls and scarred, weathered surfaces.  But unlike an ordinary house, the fanciful construction reveals its inner life.  A small breezeway magically cuts through the top floor, disclosing an interior with cottony clouds and sky-blue walls.  Here, two affectionate little houses are in their own tender world, in reverie or a dream.

Scratched into the front and back surfaces of Waltz is a calendar-like grid with a number of crossed-off squares.  This universal sign of counting might suggest the marking of time or keeping score.  Perhaps Lloveras implies that to survive the wearing process of daily life, we each need an interior space of tranquility and love.
