Philadelphia is a city of neighborhoods, each with a distinctive architectural presence.  For this series of views of her native city, painter Edith Neff visited three different areas.  She took snapshots to use as the basis for detailed charcoal drawings.  Finally, she employed pastel crayons to cover the drawings with soft, gestural marks of color.

After the Rain shows a section of Fort Mifflin, the fortification built at the confluence of the Schuylkill and Delaware Rivers to defend against a British invasion during the Revolutionary War.
