Families and friends celebrate Memorial Day in a nearby suburb of Philadelphia.  The artist Elizabeth Wilson’s adept composition and painterly approach weave together a tapestry of figures bracketed by an expansive blue sky and brilliant green landscape underfoot.  The figures zigzag through and across the painting.  Each color mass, each object and each figure act as a landmark to subtlety guide the viewer’s visual journey through the painting.  A small raised hand is one such guided gesture.  The participants are not aware of the role they play except to enjoy the day's event.
