Omid Shekari

A non-descript room washed in shadows; men at a long table; a Meeting the title announces, but of whom, and for what unfortunate purpose?  Who is that man in the background … what is hidden under the tablecloth … and come to think of it, why is the floor painted in a red wash that somehow manages to make it onto the man’s shoes?

With a limited palette, bold strokes, expressive lines, and what looks like it might be a staged scene, Omid Shekari continues to explore, in ambiguities, the backrooms of power and its troubled and troubling purposes.  In a placeless room, he explores seldom-seen but are all-too-familiar elements … and emotions.
